Who we are
Xinjiang Attractions (xinjiangattractions.com) is an independent English-language travel resource covering the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China. We publish destination guides, transport notes, seasonal advice and practical planning material for visitors. This policy explains what information the site collects, why it is collected, and what choices you have. It applies to every page on this domain.
Information you give us
We only receive personal information when you choose to send it. That happens in two situations: when you use the contact form on our contact page, and when you submit a comment on an article. A contact message typically contains your name, your email address and whatever you write in the message body. A comment contains the name and email you enter plus the comment text. We use this information only to reply to you, to moderate discussion, and to correct errors in our guides. We do not sell it, rent it, or add you to a marketing list, and we do not run a newsletter that you could be signed up for without asking.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our servers record standard request data when a page is loaded. This log data includes the page requested, the date and time, the referring page if there is one, an approximate geographic region derived from the network address, and the browser and operating system in use. These records are used for security, for diagnosing broken pages, and for aggregate traffic reporting. They are not used to build a profile of an individual reader.
Cookies
Cookies and similar storage technologies are small files placed on your device by a website. This site uses three kinds:
- Essential cookies. Needed for the site to function. For example, a cookie that remembers your choice after you dismiss a consent notice, and security cookies that protect form submissions.

We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which guides are read and where readers leave. Measurement is reported to us in aggregate. We do not attempt to identify individual readers from analytics data, and we do not combine analytics data with contact form submissions.
Embedded content and outbound links
Some articles embed maps, video, or social media posts from other services. Embedded content from another site behaves exactly as if you had visited that site directly: it may set its own cookies and collect data about your visit. We do not receive that data. Outbound links to booking platforms, transport operators and official tourism sites are provided for your convenience; once you leave this domain, the destination site’s own privacy policy applies.
How long we keep information
Contact form messages are kept for up to twenty-four months so that we can follow up on corrections and repeat questions, then deleted. Approved comments remain visible for as long as the article they belong to is published. Spam submissions are deleted on detection. Server logs are rotated automatically and are not retained indefinitely.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, or to object to certain processing. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, write to us through the contact page. We aim to respond within thirty days. We will ask you to confirm control of the email address in question before releasing or deleting anything.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under thirteen. If you believe a child has provided information through this site, contact us and we will delete it.
Data security
The site is served over HTTPS and administrative access is restricted to a small number of accounts with two-factor authentication enabled. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please do not send sensitive personal, financial or medical information through the contact form.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that materially affects how we handle your information, the new version will be published on this page with a revised date. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
